Abstract

Rapid technological advancements are reshaping job markets, creating an urgent need for proactive skill preparation. The relentless pace of technological growth is reshaping Malaysia’s labour market, giving rise to unprecedented shifts in job requirements and skill sets. This evolution necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the changing employment landscape and its implications. This study aims to comprehensively analyse the changing job market in Malaysia by focusing on emerging and redundant jobs as well as the skills demanded by these evolving roles. A qualitative content analysis approach was then used to achieve the objectives of this study. The findings reveal a notable transition in the Malaysian job market. As technology continues to reshape industries, roles such as data analysts, digital transformation specialists, and digital marketing strategists are gaining prominence. These emerging positions require skills related to data analysis, digital literacy, and strategic thinking. Simultaneously, traditional roles are facing automation, leading to a decline in future demand. Hence, this study emphasised the imperative nature of proactive measures to bridge the skills gap and seize the opportunities offered by this transformative era.
