Unternehmenskultur als Motor für Innovation

Zusammenfassung

„Culture eats strategy for breakfast, operational excellence for lunch and everything else for dinner.“ Dieser Satz wird oft Peter Drucker zugeschrieben, auch wenn sich das Zitat in der Literatur nicht wirklich finden lässt. (Für diejenigen, die sich so wie ich gerne mit Zitaten beschäftigen, empfehle ich die nicht-wissenschaftliche, aber aus meiner Sicht exzellente Seite https://quoteinvestigator.com/). Aber es würde definitiv sehr gut zum großen Vordenker des modernen Managements passen, der 1954 sagte, dass die beiden einzigen Hauptfunktionen einer Organisation Innovation und Marketing seien (Drucker 1954). Oft stellen sich Praktiker*innen die Frage: Haben wir seit damals wirklich nichts dazugelernt? Die Themen Unternehmens- und Innovationskultur haben in den 1990er-Jahren einen Höhepunkt erlebt. Die Theorie der VUCA-Welt (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) hat sich in den letzten Jahren durchaus unangenehm in der Praxis manifestiert: Eine Pandemie, der Zusammenbruch der Lieferketten, ein Krieg mitten in Europa, die Knappheit von Fachkräften etc. haben viele Strategien infrage gestellt. Im folgenden Artikel werden zunächst die Begriffe Unternehmenskultur, Innovationskultur und Leadership erläutert – für diejenigen, die nicht so sehr mit der Materie befasst sind, aber auch, um Klarstellungen in einem Umfeld zu treffen, das sich leider durch Ungenauigkeit in den Definitionen auszeichnet. Danach werden die Elemente von Open Innovation beschrieben. In Kap. 7 kommt schließlich (endlich!) der Mensch ins Spiel, wenn gezeigt wird, wie die positive Psychologie und die Flow-Theorie helfen, die Innovationsfähigkeit zu verbessern und warum sie, um zu funktionieren, eine gefestigte Unternehmenskultur benötigen. Schließlich wird eine Handlungsempfehlung abgeleitet, die als Ausgangspunkt für eigene Umsetzungskonzepte dienen kann, aber natürlich auf das individuelle Unternehmen, sein Umfeld und die handelnden Personen abgestimmt werden muss.
