Abstract

Globalisation and the liberalisation of markets have led to increased opportunities for multi-national companies either to enter into new countries or to expand their existing overseas operations. Although the potential rewards are significant, there are a number of inherent risks associated with such ventures. This presentation will look at one of these—political risk.

Based on a survey of UK-based multi-national companies, the paper will consider their perception of risk and also their general approach to its management.
