Zusammenfassung

Der gemeinsame Wunsch aller Initiatoren des europäischen Integrationsprojekts war es, Auseinandersetzungen auf dem Kontinent in Zukunft nicht durch Weltkriege, sondern in Verhandlungen zu lösen. Bei aller Kritik an den mangelhaften demokratischen Einrichtungen auf Gemeinschaftsebene kann sich das Ergebnis sehen lassen. Es dient als Vorbild für das friedliche Miteinander unterschiedlicher Länder mit nicht deckungsgleichen Kulturen. Zu einer übergreifenden „europäischen Identität“ ist es nur in Ansätzen gekommen, die Rechtspopulisten lehnen eine Einschränkung der nationalen Souveränität und Identität ohnehin ab. Im Folgenden wird auf die Ursachen von Populismus, das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Populismus und Demokratie sowie auf den Zusammenhang mit der europäischen Identität eingegangen.

Mit der „Confirmatory Factor Analysis“ (CFA) werden Annahmen über die in den Daten enthaltenen unkorrelierten Hauptfaktoren überprüft.

In der EU ist 2016 die Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DSGVO), 2016/679, beschlossen worden, mit der der Schutz personenbezogener Daten sichergestellt werden soll.

Die „Chicago School“ beruft sich auf die Nobelpreisträger Milton Friedman und George Stigler, die „New Brandeis Movement“ auf das frühere Mitglied des US Supreme Court, Louis Brandeis. Siehe dazu etwa Khan (2018) und die Kritik von Coniglio (2018).

Jan-Werner Müller (2016) zieht für diese Staatsform die Bezeichnung „defekte Demokratie“ vor.
