Abstract

Work from home (WFH) simply refers to a working mode that enables employees to perform office-related tasks at home. This initiative is made possible with the advancement of technology practiced by modern organizations. WFH is not a new practice within organizational studies. However, its relevancy and popularity have risen because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, even during the post-pandemic phase, many business organizations continued practicing this working mode, and many organizations followed suit induced by many benefits and opportunities offered by the WFH mode. Nonetheless, the academic findings are still inconclusive about this working mode. Likewise, public agencies across the countries have also had an opportunity to experience WFH. However, there is even more dearth of academic-related works reported in the literature that discussed WFH in the public sector setting. Thus, this research is keen to fill in the gap and aims to analyze the impact of working from home for civil servants and ways of moving forward. It turns out that sentiment and responses for WFH among civil servants have been well supported. WFH also managed to bring a positive impact on the productivity level of civil servants. Furthermore, organizational support systems for WFH are also discussed in the study.
