Driving Digital and Green Production by MCL Activities

Abstract

Digital and green production are keywords in the so-called Twin Transition covering the current requirements for an efficient digitalized production with a minimum of CO2 emission. MCL supports the transition from a materials perspective and provides solutions up to the interfaces with other domains such as automation, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and computer science. This article provides an overview of some current use cases concerning 1) quality-ensured high-performance steel production based on the recycling route, 2) integrated engineering of the electric steel and lamella stack production for a considerable enhancement of the performance and efficiency of electrical drives and power generators, and 3) development of electromagnetic inline sensor technology for the digitalization of the production of long steel products.
