Zusammenfassung

Während Verhandlungen im Business-to-Business-Bereich seit geraumer Zeit via E-Mail geführt werden, haben die großen technologischen Fortschritte und insbesondere die Covid-Pandemie für einen rasanten Anstieg von Video-Verhandlungen via Online-Plattformen wie Cisco Webex, MS Teams und Zoom gesorgt. Nutzt man solche virtuellen Verhandlungen, statt in Präsenz zu verhandeln, sind die Effizienzgewinne offensichtlich. Ob virtuelle Verhandlungen wirklich vorteilhaft sind, hängt aber insbesondere davon ab, welche Auswirkungen die Nutzung virtueller statt physischer Verhandlungen auf die Effektivität hat. Vor diesem Hintergrund beschäftigt sich der vorliegende Beitrag mit der Frage, wie sich virtuelle Verhandlungen in Verlauf und Ergebnis von Verhandlungen in Präsenz unterscheiden. Dazu werden zunächst die verschiedenen Arten virtueller Verhandlungen systematisiert. Danach werden die Charakteristika text- und videobasierter virtueller Verhandlungen dargestellt und sowohl für E-Mail- als auch für Video-Verhandlungen wichtige Ergebnisse aus der Forschung präsentiert. Die vorgestellten Erkenntnisse führen zu wichtigen Handlungsempfehlungen für größeren Verhandlungserfolg im virtuellen Raum.
