Following the CX-60 in Europe and the CX-90 in the USA, Mazda has now unveiled the CX-80. The SUV offers three rows of seats and is available with two drive systems.

The 4,995 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,710 mm high Mazda CX-80 is based on the "Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture". The SUV is the new top model in Europe and follows the CX-90 in terms of style. Three different seating configurations with six or seven seats are available for the CX-80. While the seven-seater is equipped with a sliding, 40:60 split bench seat in the second row, the six-seater has a "Captain Seat" configuration with two individual seats. The trunk capacity is between 258 l when using the third row of seats, 687 l and up to 1,971 l.

In the interior, the "Driver Personalization System" uses a camera to automatically adjust the seat position, steering wheel, mirrors, head-up display and the sound and climate settings to the body type or saved configuration. The cockpit has a digital design, with a 12.3" touchscreen for infotainment on the center console. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly, and Alexa voice control is also on board. The "Trailer Hitch View" function makes it easier to hitch up a trailer by displaying it on the screen. A panoramic glass roof is available as an option.

Mazda CX-80 as a PHEV and Diesel Model

The longitudinally installed engines are both electrified. The plug-in hybrid e-Skyactiv PHEV has an output of 241 kW (327 hp) and offers an electric range of up to 60 km. The 2,240 kg SUV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 s, with the hybrid mode braking at 195 km/h. The 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder e-Skyactiv D254 diesel engine delivers 187 kW (254 hp) including the M-Hybrid-Boost-System. The maximum torque is 550 Nm. The diesel version weighs 2,131 kg and has a top speed of 219 km/h. In both drive systems, power is distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and Mazda i-Activ AWD all-wheel drive. The driver can choose from up to five different driving modes. The maximum braked towing capacity is 2,500 kg.

New driver assistance systems include support for inattentive drivers as part of the "Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS), the front collision protection of the "Smart Braking System" (SBS), the swerve assist or the rear seat occupancy warning. The SUV is available in the Exclusive-Line, Homura, Takumi, Homura Plus and Takumi Plus trims. The starting price for the Mazda CX-80 e-Skyactiv PHEV in the Exclusive-Line trim level is 55,350 euros.
